How Does the Leather Martingale Stop Work?

Unlike a traditional buckle collar, this design slips over your dog's head without opening a fastening.

When the lead is relaxed, the collar can loosen. When tension is applied, the movable leather section shortens until it reaches its individually determined stopping point.

The correctly sized stop prevents the collar from tightening without limit.

The leather mechanism provides an alternative to a metal chain while maintaining a consistent leather appearance.

Personalised Name Engraving

Your dog's name can be laser-engraved directly into the outer leather strap.

Choose from more than 20 available fonts and adjust the lettering to your preferred design.

The engraving creates a dark brown to black result, depending on the leather and engraving depth. The laser removes material from the leather surface rather than applying ink or colour.

Leather Craftsmanship from Austria

Each collar is individually made in our own workshop in Styria, Austria.

The firm outer strap is combined with soft nappa leather on the inside. Leather edges are carefully smoothed and sealed, while stitching and fittings are finished with close attention to detail.

Our hand-dyed EG leather straps are a particular speciality, requiring several stages of colouring and sealing before being incorporated into the finished collar.

Important: We Need Both Head and Neck Measurements

For this slip-on collar, your dog's head circumference is the most important measurement.

The collar must pass comfortably over the widest part of the head, including the ears.

1. Head circumference – essential

Measure around the widest part of your dog's head, including the ears. Use a flexible measuring tape and ensure that the collar will be able to slide over this area comfortably.

2. Neck circumference – additional measurement

Measure your dog's neck where the collar will normally sit. The measuring tape should fit closely without digging in. Please do not add extra finger widths, as we account for the necessary allowance during production.

Both measurements are needed to determine the correct dimensions of the leather martingale stop.

Please do not substitute the neck circumference for the head circumference.
